Beauty: A beauty editor’s secret to maintaining your A game when travelling…

Have you ever walked off a plane and wondered why the girl you passed in row five looked like she was just about to walk out of a day spa while you looked like you were in a serious battle with influenza? If our travels this year have taught us one thing, it’s that looking good while flying is no random luck of the draw. It takes preparation and a little help from the beauty bag department. Having road tested the cult SK-II facial masks for ourselves and firmly established that they are worth every last ounce of praise they receive (and every last cent they squeeze out of our wallets), we thought who better to speak to about looking good at 33,000 feet than SK-II ambassador, beauty editor and global roamer, Eleanor Pendleton.

In the days leading up to a long flight, start prepping your skin by…

Taking The Beauty Chef Hydration Inner Beauty Boost twice a day. I apply SK-II Facial Treatment Essence morning and night to clean skin. Next, I apply a nourishing facial oil (SK-II Facial Treatment Oil) to really ramp up my skin’s hydration levels before a long haul journey.

On the day of the flight don’t forget to:

Pack makeup removing wipes (I like Uriage Thermal Micellar Water Wipes) as they don’t dry up in the packet.

In flight essentials:

SK-II Facial Treatment Mask (I pop one on once the cabin lights are dimmed and another once I arrive at my hotel destination) and SK-II Mid-Day Miracle Essence (for those moments when your skin begins to feel dry or you feel hot being sandwiched next to other passengers).

In flight beauty routine goes like:

I always go onto a flight wearing very light makeup (tinted moisturiser and curled lashes – no mascara). Once I’ve eaten and settled into a good action movie or prepare to sleep, I remove my makeup with Uriage Thermal Micellar Water Wipes before applying a few drops of SK-II Facial Treatment Oil.

Throughout the journey, I’m constantly refreshing my skin with SK-II Mid-Day Miracle Essence face mist – I’m completely addicted! Just before the plane lands, I wipe my skin again with a fresh wipe and re-apply Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser, Glossier Boy Brow and Lanolips 101 Fruities in Peach.

When you land don’t forget to:

Take all of your belongings with you!

The first few days always:

Be conscious of drinking water.

My travel beauty bag is never without:

SK-II – it’s the skincare brand I cannot live without!
