Hair: Joey Scandizzo talks summer hair repair
We are more than half way through summer – and the weather man has certainly treated us to many hot, sunny days and balmy summer nights. With this has come a serious dose of sun, sand, salt and surf, the effects of which are starting to show in our hair. When you spend triple digits to keep up with the latest must have hair trends, you want to ensure your hair remains in tip top condition.
There are many hair treatments out there to aid in sun and salt damage. We spoke with co-creative ELEVEN HAIR director Joey Scandizzoto, get his take on the summer hair repair – because before we know winter will be upon us before we know it and we will be wanting our healthy locks back to compensate for that pasty white skin…
What impact does salt water and sun have to the hair?
Both can dry hair out and fade your colour, so you have to make sure you use the right products and protect your hair from UV rays and use a treatment that re-hydrates your hair. Miracle Hair Treatment has anti colour fade qualities and protects hair from UVA and UVB rays, and at the same time it nourishes hair, tames flyaways and hydrates dry ends…there’s not much it doesn’t do.
How can we look after our locks without giving up the beach?
Make sure you always give your hair and scalp a good rinse so your hair doesn’t dry with too much salt and sand in it! Its always good to use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner like HYDRATE MY HAIR from ELEVEN Australia.
Once a week use 3 MINUTE REPAIR TREATMENT for extra hydration and then of course, MIRACLE HAIR TREATMENT everyday before styling - blow dry this in and your hair will be nourished and protected all day long!
How often should we use this treatment?
The 3 Minute Repair can be used once a week and Miracle Hair Treatment can be used every day before you style
What does it smell like?
Delicous! The Miracle Hair Treatment smells like coconut and the 3 Minute Repair smells like melon.
Some hair treatments feel so oily. Can you describe the consistency of these treatments
They are a cream consistency that is light weight and easy to distribute through hair
We couldn't speak to an expert without asking for your hair treatment tips...
Comb hair through after you apply to make sure the treatment is evenly distributed from roots to ends, leave in as long as you can, then rinse thoroughly (don't shampoo out as this will cause oilyness!)
