Fashion: White denim is better

White denim in summer. In the words of Miranda Priestly (aka Anna Wintour) how groundbreaking right! We all know white denim is a wardrobe essential so why are so many of us still without a pair? Truth be told, white denim is harder to pull off than your regular dark styles and having been subjected to bad cuts in the past, many of us are still feeling a little traumatised.

At TWAIN HQ we are all about building on good quality essentials and when it comes to essentials, denim is king. Any fashion enthusiast knows that a good pair of jeans, tee and blazer is a classic combination. Think Jane Birkin – it never goes out of style. Naturally our wardrobes are filled with jeans – long, short, baggy, tight, flared – you name them, we have them. However there is one denim trend we had avoided for as long as we could – white denim.

We lust over Jane Birkin and Erin Wasson’s white denim ensembles, investing in a pair was a whole different story with a flattering fit harder to track down than a Mansur Gavriel bag. That is until, we discovered there is more to white denim than the white skinny jean. While our favourite muses may be blessed with seemingly endless and toned pins, for us mere mortals finding a flattering pair of white jeans is nothing short of daunting.

Well TWAIN to the rescue – because white denim has made the cut into our every expanding wardrobe of summer staples…

For an understated day look pair with a white tee and your favourite sneaker – messy hair is non-negotiable of course. Throw on a black heel and finish with a red lip for a night out. Blazer over shoulder and the street is your catwalk.

Here are our top 5 white denim picks:

See by Chloe – stitch detail straight leg jeans – $483

We all know flares have made a come back, so when we discovered the combination of denim and a subtle (yes just a subtle) cropped flare we couldn’t resit.

For the woman who dresses for herself and no one else.

Frame Denim – le high flare – $240

A high rise and a skinny leg that flares out from the knee- say no more! You’d be surprised how flattering these would be – don’t let the white scare you away.

For the woman who is polished, yet edgy…

J Brand – selena cropped mid-rise jeans -$281

J Brand is next level when it comes to denim. These babies are crafted from flexible white denim making them easy to wear over and over again. A classic cut that will last in your wardrobe for years on end.

For the woman who likes quality over quantity…

3×1 – w25 crop baby boot – $225

You had us at frayed hem! These will become your casual staples paired with an oversize shirt and slides. The somewhere in between a mid and high rise cut makes for a comfortable pair of jeans – because for us, denim has to be comfortable.

These are for the woman who likes to pair it back…

NOBODY denim – 7/8 midi’s in daze – $109

Not quite a boyfriend cut, but far less forgiving than your regular form fitting styles, the midi’s are your fail proof introduction to the white denim trend. They can be worn rolled up for that Parisian feel or rolled down for a more street style look. If you prefer a slightly more androgynous feel, go for the next size up. The jeans that look better with age…

For the woman who wants that street style look…
