Lifestyle: 10 lifestyle hacks to get that celebrity glow

Have you ever woken up with a newfound commitment to taking your beauty routine from Britney Spears circa 2007 to Bella Hadid in the lead up to a Victoria’s Secrets show? You think “baby I’m worth it” so you research the best facialist, most expensive elixirs, laser, some invasive and not so invasive treatments, you want to do it all. The only thing standing between you and a fresh new glow are 2 electricity bills, a phone bill and a little thing called reality. But in support of all broke girls around the world,  you won’t give up, no. We understand all too well….

We turned to celebrity trainer Amy Rosoff Davis to talk 10 lifestyle hacks to achieve that celebrity glow. Now when we say trainer what we really mean trainer + actress, producer, physical and mental coach and the woman responsible for transforming Selena Gomez’s body during her Revival Tour. With an approach to beauty that includes health, wellness and juggling a busy life, we knew Amy was our gal.

Here Amy talks gaining that celebrity glow sans taking out a personal loan and making it a full-time job…


Working out hard and getting all red in the face is a great way to get that glow. When you exercise tiny arteries in your skin open up and allow increased blood flow, oxygen and nutrients (like collagen) to get to your skin. Sweating also helps rid your skin of waste products (like free radicals and pollutants) and helps regulate hormones. Plus, working out feels good and makes you happy. And when you are happy you got that glow!

2. Discover infrared sweating

Speaking of sweating… Infrared sweating is a GREAT way to get that glow. Aside from ridding your organs of toxins, heavy metals, and free radicals (amongst many other amazing benefits) infrared sweating purifies the skin by cleaning the pores. Because the heat is so intense, the skin flushes out am immense amount toxins and kills bacteria. It also improves blood circulation, so you get that extra glow. I am addicted to Shape House, a local sweat lodge in Los Angeles. I have sent all my clients there and even got my husband to become an avid sweater.

Sweating is delightful for the mind body and soul!

3. Always remember – you are what you eat

A diet rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals is one of the best ways to defend your skin against free radical damage. Eat fruits and veggies that are loaded with vitamins- it will help protect and nourish your skin. Vitamin C, aka ascorbic acid, is especially good, it mops up free radicals that cause wrinkles and discoloration and helps enhance your complexion. Regular intake of Vitamin C also improves collagen production! Vegetables also help balance your bodies ph levels, which make your skin glow more too. So get on that healthy diet and get that glow!

4. Drink more water

Your skin needs water. Lots of it. Eight glasses or more a day will help keep your skin hydrated so you can get that glow. Water helps clear toxins that cause inflammation and blemishes. It also helps bring nutrients and oxygen to skin cells. When you are dehydrated your skin is less elastic and dry. Over time, this can age you faster. Drinking enough water will help keep the wrinkles to a minimum. So drink that water and get that good skin!

5. Exfoliate for 2 minutes, every day 

My facialist Cristina Radu recommends that you exfoliate lightly in a circular motion for two minutes every day. I was skeptical at first, but it totally works! We know we have to wash our hands for at least a minute to fully disinfect them, so why would our face be any different? It takes about a minute to open up those pores and then another minute to clean them. This method also keeps your pores small since it removes dirt, oil, and dead skin cells. When your pores are clean your skin glows!

6. Opt for a tinted moisturiser and some highlighter

Wearing a heavy concealer or foundation can clog your pores during the day. A tinted moisturizer with a little glow and a highlighter are the perfect way to literally get that glow while also getting some light coverage. I like Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturiser. It is light but gives that flawless dewy glow-filled skin. On top of that, I dab Benefit’s High Bean on my cheekbones, brow bones, and along the ridge of my nose.

7. Always wear sunscreen

The number one anti-ager is sunscreen. Seriously, it is the easiest and cheapest way to look younger and have better skin for life. I mean, staying out of the sun is even better, but you need sunscreen either way. Wear plenty of it and reapply throughout the day! I like iS Clinical’sExtreme Protection SPF 30. It is not only organic and paraben free, but it combines broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection and powerful antioxidants to repair sun damage. In addition, this sunscreen hydrates, soothes, softens, and reduces fine lines and wrinkles. When I put it on, my face instantly glows.

8. Don’t underestimate the power of a cucumber mask

Cucumbers contain vitamin C and caffeic acid, which are two antioxidants that help reduce wrinkles and sun damage. Aside from just adding them into your diet, cucumbers make a delicious and cleansing face mask. The Korean spa I go to in Los Angeles purees cucumbers and puts them on your face for 5 minutes during treatments. It feels like you have a fresh new face when it’s over. Puree or finely chop a few cucumber and put in the fridge to cool. Spread over face and rest for 5-10 minutes. Rinse off and get that glow!

9. Get more sleep

Lack of sleep lowers circulation which is why you don’t look your brightest and freshest when you skip the snoozing. Your skin needs a good 7-9 hours of rest so it can work on renewing cells and producing collagen. Your body also boosts blood flow while you sleep- which is how you get that glow. Use a good moisturizer before bed so it can work it’s magic while you are resting.

10. Love lots and laugh hard

There is nothing lovelier than a happy love filled face. It is infectious beautiful and has the best glow you can wish for. Make time to laugh with your friends or your favorite comedian, and definitely work on manifesting that pitter-patter in your heart. Love truly is the best.
