Tea or Coffee? My mouth is a swingers’ party for Piccolo Lattes.
Breakfast of choice… I had the most incredible baked egg dish this morning. Chorizo, molten beans, kassler, tomato and a fresh baguette with cultured butter. Serve up my smug green smoothie and I am one happy girl.
The most important part of my regime is soft lips. I am never more than three metres away from Lucas’ Pawpaw Ointment and I am never too shy to offer (or force) some on dry-lipped visitors.
For skincare, I start my day with Clarins cleansing milk, followed by their toner and Beauté Pacifique Creme Paradoxe. If I’m feeling dry, I will also use Eve Lom Intense Hydration Serum under my moisturiser and apply their TLC Cream to my forehead.
My makeup routine starts with Hourglass Veil Primer all over, Dr Brandt Pore Refiner on my T-zone, Chanel Perfetion Lumiere foundation, Ellis Faas concealer and NARS Translucent Powder. I will then illuminate with the Hourglass Ambient Powder Wardrobe, contour with their Superficial Waterproof Bronzer or STILA Shape and Shade Custom Contour Duo for a more formal look. For peachy cheeks, I use the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Wardrobe. When it comes to my brows, I use Dip Brow by Anastasia Beverly Hills and base my eye makeup with Painterly Paint Pot by MAC. I shadow depending on my mood, but for an everyday look I use my STILA Eyes Are The Window Shadow Palette. Dark liner is a great way to define sleepy eyes; I love the intense black of Benefit They’re Real! Pushup Liner, followed up with Blinc Black Primer and Mascara. I finish with a spritz of MAC Fix Plus and, typically, Hourglass Femme Nude shade 4 and Ellis Faas Creamy Lips L108.
To take it all off, I start with an oil-based makeup remover like Lancome Bi-Facil, then I use Skinstitut Gentle Cleanser, Skinstitut Glycolic Scrub 14%, a bedtime serum or oil like Antipodes Avocado & Rosehip Divine Face Oil and Eve Lom TLC Cream. If I notice I need a hit of vitamin A for problem pigmentation or pimple scars, I will add Skinstitut Retinol before my night cream, or use Beauté Pacifique Creme Métamorphique.
For my body, I dry brush daily and alternate between Lush Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner or Lush Dream Cream. Depriving me of moisturiser would be the fastest way to kill me; dry skin is my biggest phobia
Signature scent… Thierry Mugler Angel. I’m due for an update but I need to set aside a day for such a big life change!
On personal style… I am obsessed with Scanlan Theodore for clean cut, elegant pieces made from high quality fabrics that won’t fade or lose shape. I love how contemporary Australian style is slightly masculine. I believe in investment pieces and I am realistic about my figure, sticking to timeless tailoring. I rarely wear a skirt above the knee, an elongated shape is always more flattering for curvy hips
Fashion Bible… Working in the magazine industry means I trawl through lookbooks for a living; I am never short of a fashion feed. If I am seeking a style summary, I look to LOVE TWAIN. I’m almost not cool enough to hang out on this site
My writing style is… totally dependent on the publication I’m penning for. Like any qualified writer, I am big on readability and well-structured sentences, and if my wit fits, I will use it. I adore Zoe Foster-Blake’s style
I draw inspiration from… Food! There is nothing more enchanting than Adelaide Central Market. Cooking is so cathartic. My ideal day off is strolling through the stalls where so many possibilities for greatness exist. Food is one of the few things I care about more than twice a day
Favourite interview to date… On the phone to Alex Perry a few months ago, it was like talking to my best friend (in my sugar-dusted imagination). I so agree with his style philosophy. However, it was my interview with former Editor in Chief of Vogue Australia Kirstie Clements that really resonated with me. I was rightfully terrified, but somehow I managed to impress her. Writing the article felt like an exam worth 90% of my degree’s grade
Would love to see my work published in… I get more validation from the people I interview than from the title. An interview with one of my favourite artists Fabian Perez holds just as much prestige to me in a local magazine as it would in Vogue, but without the following, you don’t get access
Hidden talent… I won’t lie about my instagram-proven cooking skills, but a sneakier talent of mine leans more towards nature. When I was little, I would watch Sir David Attenborough every night before I went to sleep and I now know the characteristics, courting tactics and evolutionary techniques of almost every animal in the kingdom. It would be my dream to spend a day with Sir David!
Ultimate holiday destination… Turkey. My fiancé is Lebanese and I’m from a European background – it’s the perfect cuvee of the mainland and the Middle East. I am dying to get back there and explore the region after the release of Somer Sivrioglu’s bible Anatolia
Would love to visit… I have an adoration for maps, so much so that I have clad Christian Lacroix’s Camargue wallpaper around my house to encourage my wanderlust. It was only yesterday that I was seeking the best way to get to Yellow Stone National Park to see the gray wolves. Last night, it was leopard-watching in Africa. I’m dying to visit Morocco and eastern Europe as well
2015 is all about… commitment. To my work, to my passions and to my fiancé, Houssam. I plan to be married by the year’s end. Stay tuned!
Life motto… Only have friends with good eyebrows
