Spend 5: Christopher Esber

Christopher Esber. An Australian designer set to dominate the global market. Cleverly balancing a modernised take on feminine dressing though the use of exclusive and exquisite fabrics and cuts, Esber designs tick all of TWAIN’s boxes. Experimental and refined tailoring are expertly paired with an off- beat yet polished aesthetic producing pieces that fit perfectly within a modern wardrobe. Exceptional quality and design have led to a plethora of awards such as the Loreal Melbourne Fashion Festival’s ‘National Designer Of The Year’ in 2012, as well as the BT ‘Emerging Fashion Designer’ Award and the Woolmark Award for Australia in 2013.

Ahead of the SS15 drop and in light of the latest pairing between the coveted label and RUSSH Magazine, TWAIN just had to spend 5 with the man himself…

Christopher Esber

Name: Christopher Esber

Occupation: Designer

On working for yourself… it’s something I’ve always wanted to do

Best part of my job… the opportunity and independence to create

Most challenging part of my job… the business side has really taught me a lot in the past few years. It’s so much more than design

My team… I feel very lucky to have such a dedicated team, striving for the same goal

Work goals… the international market and showing in Paris on schedule is a big one for me. I’m headed to Milan and Paris in the next few weeks!

Favourite couture house… I do love Lanvin and Dries van Noten

I have always looked up to… Miuccia Prada, for her fearlessness

On looking for inspiration… textures and tapestries make their way into each collection, but ultimately, living in Australia, our beautiful warm weather and summer sensibility year-round

The Christopher Esber girl… is sleek, refined and modern

Must have piece this season… for upcoming SS15 it’s all about the Pleat Rib Jumper and Pleat Rib Column Skirt. For current season AW15, the design and idea of the Drape Wrap Pant is a favourite

What you might not know about me… I learnt how to cut patterns from my aunt at a really early age

Every woman should… be herself and have her own sense of style.

Signature scent… Le Labo

My style is… relaxed tailoring with sport accents

Life motto… Do one thing well
