Locals: Francis Kurkdjian

Francis Kurkdjian is a man whose luxurious taste extends beyond his ridiculously impressive repertoire of perfume creations. If you consider yourself a perfume connoisseur, then chances are that one of the very perfumes you have sitting on your beauty cabinet was created by Mr. Kurkdjian (Burberry – My Burberry, guilty!). Nowadays this Parisian gem spends his day’s creating sweet scents for bespoke perfume house, Paris-based Maison Francis Kurkdjian. Embodying the French essence of life and love, the perfume house is a reflection of Kurkdijan’s love for the sensual, rich and enticing.

In celebration of our first visit to the bespoke perfumery, we asked Francis to share his favourite Parisian hot spots. Because once we have our scent on, it’s time to explore those Parisian vibes…

Name: Francis Kurkdjian

Occupation: Perfumer

I have lived here for… Ever – with a 4 year break in NYC

I moved here because… It is the city of my heart. Most of all of my big successes happened in Paris. Maison Francis Kurkdjian is actually a tribute to Paris

Favorite thing to do: Walking down the streets

Must visit: So many places… but I’d say the Palais Royal gardens, the Grand Palais, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. Get lost and walk in Paris is my secret

For an authentic meal: Epi D’or next to my office, le 52 Faubourg Saint-Denis…

For fine dining: I love the cuisine by Chef Anne Sophe Pic or Ducasse at Le Meurice of course

For a hard earned beverage: My new place is La Providence, a hotel, bar and restaurant close to my home

Easiest way of getting around: Walking

The fashion here is: A must

For thrift shopping: The flee market in the North of Paris

For local designers: AMI brand and other designers

For high end shopping: Charvet for my bespoke shirts

You need to stay: At la Providence

Hidden gems: Atelier Renard who makes my bespoke leather items. It is located next to the Palais Bourbon

This city in 3 words: Magic, Freedom and Lights
